Fonda's Fabulous Funday Finds #1 {one large green frog comin' up}

For my birthday in August of 2016, I wanted to meet up with Donna Wilkes of  distresseddonnadownhome. She's a sweetheart, and we quickly became friends. On the way to meet her, we stopped at a yard sale in Sumter, SC, just outside of Columbia. I wanted to break up our long-ish drive, so I checked Craigslist for yard sales. These photos are of the items we found at that yard sale:

Aluminum Bundt pan
Isn't that a wonderful shape for a Bundt cake!?!

Pens, nibs and rulers
I love office supplies, and this bunch of goodies was for me.

Sewing and knitting supplies plus buttons
I also love needle arts supplies. There are some old patterns at the back right that are in great shape. The buttons are bright and new, and I should find a project for those. The brand new sewing machine needles always come in handy. The contents of the box are the office supplies shown above.

Fat quarters
Look at the fat quarters! Brand new batiks and quilting cottons.

Flower frog
Everyone needs a large green oval flower frog! It's about 5" long. {Correction: It's 6.5" at the base!}

Slide Rule
The slide rule has a broken piece, but I'm thinking about selling it to a collector on eBay.

So that was our visit in Sumter. From there, we drove to two quilt stores (stay tuned). After that, we went to our motel where Donna would meet us the next day. I'll save that excursion for next time.

From Bundt pans to large green frogs to slide rules...and everything in between...

  1. That sounds like so much fun! It would be fun to meet Donna, she's hilarious! We have worked on things together in blogland but never met in person and I'm waaaay over in Washington State so a bit far!

    Love all your finds!

    1. I wish I lived closer to Donna. We could have a blast. We're about 3.5-4 hours away from her. We are about as far away as you as we could get without floating in the ocean! Maybe we'll make it to Washington and Oregon some day. The blog makes us seem so close, but then again, it doesn't. Thank you for stopping by!

  3. And the last time you two visited I did not get to spend any time with Katie! You have let a secret out - you shopped before coming to Aiken!?! Love the green frog and vintage office supplies are always on my list.

    1. You didn't think we saved ourselves, did you? It was kind of fun/silly that I studied Craigslist yard sales and Google maps before I could find one on the way! I wish we could have spent more time there...and money!!! Our whole visit/vacation was one of saturation! Stay tuned...Ridin' the Ridge is coming up.

  5. Fun to find another Donna fan! She and I have met up and shopped many times now. I love the green flower frog, I don't have one like that in my collection so it's something on my 'lookout' list!

  6. Everyone would be a Donna fan if they met her! That big ol' green frog is huge! I just measured it: 6.5" at the base. I can't imagine how big the vase would be that would hold it. Yep! I found a good one!

  7. I love Donna too. She's a blast, but I've never met her either. Love your yard sale finds! Sometimes you can get some good ones (good vintage junk) and sometimes it's nothing but toys & newer items. You never know till you get there. I always try to hit all things local when I'm traveling.

  8. I figured that since we were traveling, at least it was a place to stretch our legs. We were pleasantly surprised. Glad to see you.

  9. Oh my gosh! I used a slide rule in high school. I hated that thing. I don't think I ever figured out how to work it correctly.
