Someday

I began this A2-sized card by stamping the focal image (Stampington & Company) in Versafine Onyx on mixed media paper. Then, I stamped the squares and circles (Hero Arts) and the word Someday (Uptown Design Co.) using Distress Oxide inks. After that, I adhered the white panel to the magenta panel and then to the black panel using double-side tape. I adhered all of that to a white card base.

We're Better Together

I began this A2-sized card by stamping the image and sentiment (Colorado Craft Company) in Distress Archival ink in hickory smoke using my MISTI to assure good placement and darkness. Then, I used chalk to color in the image. After that, I cut the green gingham paper slightly larger than the panel with the image on it, and I placed it on a white card base using double-sided tape.

My mind has been elsewhere.

Maybe you've noticed my absence. My mind has been elsewhere, and so have I at times.

My wife, Katie, had a hip replacement on December 21st, 2020. She was doing well, and then she wasn't. She saw her doctor and found she had an infection, so she had surgery on Monday, January 25th, 2021. It was the best-case scenario in that the infection didn't go into the muscle or her joint. So, he flushed out the infection, debrided the area and seeded the area with antibiotics. She stayed in the hospital for 3 days, coming home on Thursday morning.

So, I spent my time at the hospital visiting with her. I went after I fed the cats and had my breakfast. I packed my lunch and dinner. I came home about 5:30 pm or 6:00 pm. I have a hard time driving at night. Thank goodness there's a little bit of light at 6 pm! When I came home, I fed the cats, caught up on my computer and went to bed early. I didn't get my usual mid-day nap!

Katie was sent home with a PICC line that goes into her vein where she must receive antibiotics twice a day, about 12 hours apart. So, I play nurse since she can't do it herself. She also has a Wound-Vac, which helps her incision heal. We are working on our new normal.

Needless to say, I have been focused on her and not my art. Now, I will be starting back to working on my art that will be uploaded tomorrow evening for challenges that are due on February 1st. It's been a nice break, too. I need that every once in awhile.

Keep Katie in your thoughts as she heals. She's walking without assistance now, and she only has to work on her endurance after being out of commission for awhile. She can tie her own shoes, too, which is something she couldn't do before this last surgery.

Enjoy

I began this A2-sized card by stamping the balloons on a scrap of white card stock using Brilliance Ink. Brilliance shimmers in the light. I cut them out with a die and glued the two on the ends to the card base. I used double-sided foam tape to lift the middle one up. I drew a line from each with a pencil. Then, I die cut the sentiment and glued it to the card base.

I began this A2-sized card by cutting a piece of white card stock for the top. I stamped the sentiment (Momenta) using Colorbox Chalk lipstick red and the tricycle (Unity) using Versafine Onyx. Then, I cut a piece of red card stock, which was slightly larger and adhered the two pieces together. Next, I adhered that onto the white card base.

Big Ben: London

I began this tag by stamping the clock (Inkadinkado) and Big Ben (Stampabilities) on scraps of white card stock with Versafine Onyx. I cut down the Big Ben image and colored it in with my Spectrum Noir colored pencils. Then, I die cut the tag which measures approximately 2 1/2" by 4 1/2". Next, I cut strips of white and red card stock and glued it to the tag. Then, I glued the clock face to the tag. After that, I used double-sided foam tape to adhere the other image to the tag. Then, I used my Silent Setter to bore a hole into the top middle of tag. I set in an eyelet and threaded a white ribbon through it.

I began this tag by die cutting the black background. It measures approximately 3" by 3 1/4". Then, I stamped the image (Above the Mark) on a scrap of white card stock using Versafine Onyx. XOXOXO

I began this A2-sized card by cutting a heart in the center of the mixed media paper. I used a piece of discarded plastic packaging for the window, which I adhered to the top panel with red liner extra strength double-sided tape. Then, I used double-sided foam tape around the heart shape and all over the top panel to make sure that it didn't cave in. I sprinkled the tiny foil hearts inside the heart shape. Next, I adhered another piece of mixed media paper over top of that. After that, I adhered that complete unit to a red top-folding card base. Finally, I stamped the sentiment (Craft Smart) in the lower right corner using Colorbox Chalk red lipstick.

Cupcake 2

Except for the ribbon, this is a one-layer A2-sized card. I began by stamping the cupcake and the sentiment on a white card base using Versafine Onyx. I colored the cupcake with my Spectrum Noir colored pencils. I cut slits down either side with my X-acto knife and threaded the ribbon through. I also cut a slit near the fold and brought the thread to the inside of the card. I taped it down with double-sided tape.

After that, I glued the cupcake cut-out to the rick-rack. Finally, I used yellow Stickles to simulate a flame for the candle.

I began this card by embossing the green panel. Then, I adhered it to the A2-sized card base. Next, I stamped the sentiment (Stampers Anonymous) on light pink paper with Versafine Onyx, and using my MISTI, lined it up to make sure it was straight. After that, I used my paper trimmer to cut it down to size.

Life is Wonderful

This entry is a two-fer. The cards are so much alike that I feel putting them together is the right thing to do for the challenges.

I began this set of cards by die cutting 3 circles each. Then, I glued them, one on top of the other making sure that they were placed close to the edge. After they were dry, I cut them in half and switched out one piece of each set. Next, I glued them to a white A2 card base in the configuration above. Finally, I stamped the sentiment (Stampers Anonymous) using Versafine Onyx on pink card stock using my MISTI to make sure it was straight. I cut the sentiment down using my paper trimmer and glued them to the width of the cards.

This is what you would see if you pulled the card out of the envelope.

This is what you would see if you opened up the card to see the handwritten message, which would be on the far right.

And, this is what you would see if you were to display the card on the table. You will notice that it has two folds.

This card is an A2-sized card. All of the papers and the snip of ribbon are from Stampin' Up!. The ink pad I used to stamp the sentiment (Stampabilities) is Vivid olive.
