School

When I think of school, I think of the friends that are made there. And, learning to count and tell time, of course.

I started with an A2 red card blank. On top of that, I adhered paper from a pad of Primary Grade writing paper. I stamped all of the elements (clock is from Inkadinkado) and glued on a gold star.

Fall-colored Birthday

I had a lot of fun watching this card come to life. Each piece I added made the quilt pattern called Grandma's Garden, I believe. 

I used a small hexagon punch and Bo Bunny's 6" by 6" paper pad called Beautifully Brisk Collection. The stamped sentiment is by Cat's Life Press.

Panda Party

Today, I made an Artist Trading Card (ATC). They measure 3 1/2" by 2 1/2", and they are traded, never sold.

To start with, I cut a card out of heavy paper. Then, I masked most of the card and stamped the Chinese characters (Hero Arts). Then, I removed the mask and stamp the bamboo (All Night Media). Next, on a thinner piece of white card stock, I stamped the panda (Stampin' Up!) and cut it out using my scissors. After that, I colored in the dots on the party hat with markers. Then, I used my Sizzix to make the panda into a sticker and adhered it to the ATC. Next, I stamped the sentiment in red. Finally, I used a hole punch and threaded some recycled sari yarn into the hole and tied it off.

Fall Squirrel

Fall will be creeping in on our days before we know it.

How I made this card:

I chose a dark brown A2-sized card blank. First, I cut the orange card stock at 5 1/4" by 4", then I used a circle punch to create a hole for the squirrel. Next, I stamped the leaves (Hero Arts) in various fall colors. Then, I adhered the orange card stock to the dark brown card. After that, I created the squirrel using Karen Burniston's 1001-Woodland Animals. I ran it through my Big Kick using the appropriate colors for the pieces of the squirrel and assembled the pieces. Finally, I glued the squirrel in place.

Things with wings

I learned to make this kind of card from an online blogger. I can't remember the blogger, but when I find her again, I will include a reference here. [Edit: here is the link.] The secret is in the measuring and folding.

First, I chose an A2-sized card blank. Then, I cut the pink paper 5 1/4" by 4" and adhered it to the card front. Next, I cut the greenish double-sided paper into a 4" square. Fold this paper in half, and pinch it in the center, then fold it the other way and do the same thing. This way, you will find the center of the card. Poke a small hole where the two folds come together. (Don't worry. The inside panel will cover it up later.) 

Fold each point of the paper to the center hole. Then, there will be another square. Adhere this square to a 3" square (dark border). I adhered an enamel dot to the lower left-hand corner.

With all of the corners in the center, start with one and fold it to the outside leaving about 1/2" still folded to the inside. Be sure to fold it straight. After doing this, cut the dark border around the bird to 1 3/4". Next, the bird image was cut to 1 3/8". Finally, adhere the bird to the dark border and adhere that to the center of the larger square at a 90-degree angle, or parallel to the top and bottom of the card. 

It's a little complicated, and I wish I had taken photos at each step. Look at the finished card as you work through the directions.

Picking up the Scraps

When crafting gives me scraps, sometimes I use them to create a whole new thing.

I have taken the coordinating scraps from here and some extra bits (red) from another project and sewed them all in a line. I used Spellbinders Quilt It die to originally cut the pieces.

Hello

I let the papers speak for themselves on this card. I love aqua/turquoise and red together.

 

This is an A2-sized card. The word "hello" is a die cut from Spellbinders: Sentiments 5. It has curly-cues on each side that I removed to make the sentiment simple.

Thankful

Sometimes, the decorative paper speaks so well and all that's needed is a stamped phrase. That's the way it was with "Havana" by Prima Marketing.

How I made this:

I used a dark taupe-y green for the A2-sized card blank. I cut the decorative paper 5 1/2" by 4", making sure that the birds were facing the right way. I cut a small piece of the card stock and placed it in the upper left hand corner and attached three different sizes of coordinating enamel dots in a row. Then, I stamped the sentiment (Stampin' Up!) in Versafine Onyx Black.

Friendship

This is a card that I made that was a little more elaborate than most. The layers seemed to come together easily, though it was a little more labor-intensive, having to make sure the black space was even. (This image was tilted slightly when scanned, and I couldn't get it right.)

Here's how I made it:

I chose an A2 black card blank. I cut the two panels on the left 2 3/4" by 1 3/4". The right panel was cut at 3 3/4" by 2". I put them through my Big Kick with an embossing folder. 

I cut the white panel 3" by 1 7/8" and adhered it to a black panel that was cut to 3 1/4" by 2 1/8" to create a border. I stamped the sentiment (Stampin' Up!) in Versafine Onyx Black and adhered it to the card.

The white 1 3/8" circle was stamped with a flowered heart (also Stampin' Up!) using the same black ink pad. I colored in the flowers to match the colored panels, and I dabbed a few dots of a glitter pen to add a little sparkle. I adhere that to a colored 1 3/4" circle and attached that to a 2" scalloped circle. Then I glued that to the card.

Midge is Simple

Or is it, Midge makes things simple?

I think Midge is simple. Nothing is that easy, or maybe it is...

This card was super simple to make. I stamped the image and words in Versafine Onyx Black. I cut out the panel and adhered it to black card stock, creating a border. Then, I adhered it to white card stock. And, there you go...
